Identify a sprocket from five things: the mounting, meaning the bolt circle, hole count and pattern; the chain pitch it is cut for; the tooth count and profile; whether it is one-piece or segmented; and the side profile, flat or dished. Confirm against the machine model and serial number rather than against a photograph. Judge wear from the teeth themselves: sound teeth are symmetrical with a full root section, while worn teeth hook over, point up and lose their root to a stepped notch where the bushing has been riding. The decision that matters most is pairing: a sprocket and its chain wear into each other, so they are replaced together or the mismatch consumes the newer part.
What defines a sprocket
| Feature | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Bolt circle and hole pattern | Decides whether it mounts at all; two patterns may share a bolt count. |
| Chain pitch | The teeth are cut to the pitch; the wrong pitch destroys both parts. |
| Tooth count and profile | Sets the mesh with the bushings; profile is the wear evidence. |
| One-piece or segmented | Segments change the repair method and the bolts needed. |
| Side profile | Flat or dished must match the frame and chain line. |
What to do about it
Sprocket beyond the wear limit: replace it, and replace the chain with it when the measurements say the pair is matched in wear. Fitting one fresh half of a worn mesh buys the least life per dollar in the whole undercarriage.
Sprocket within limits but chain derailing: the sprocket is not the fault. Move to tension, bushing wear and idler alignment before ordering anything.
Segments loose or bolts stretched: replace the bolts with the correct grade, and torque to specification. Undercarriage bolts are a wear item on their own schedule, not a one-time fitting.
Whatever the identification, Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. supplies sprockets and complete undercarriage from Guangzhou, with 3,000+ part types on the shelf and 100,000+ part numbers available to order. As an independent supplier we are formally authorized for Garrett, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, TONGMYUNG, NIKURA and Marusan. Kobelco is not among them, and Kobelco parts are supplied through original channels or as quality alternatives, stated on each quotation line.
Parts you may need, by grade
| Part | Grades commonly quoted |
|---|---|
| Sprocket, one-piece | Genuine; OEM-quality. Confirm bolt circle and tooth count before ordering. |
| Sprocket segments and bolts | Genuine; OEM-quality. Replace bolts as a set with the correct grade. |
| Complete track assembly with sprocket | Genuine; OEM-quality; aftermarket from known makers. The option that solves the pairing question in one order. |
| Track roller and idler group | Genuine; OEM-quality. Quote together with the sprocket when wear is advanced across the undercarriage. |

Can I identify a sprocket from a photo alone?
Not safely. Photographs hide the two details that decide the order: the bolt circle diameter and the side profile. Count the holes, measure the circle, measure the pitch, and the photo becomes supporting evidence instead of the whole case.
How worn is too worn?
The honest answer is by measurement against the wear limit for the section, which the service manual or the parts desk can supply. The visible shortcut is the tooth profile: hooked, pointed teeth with a step at the root are already past the point of economic repair, whatever the ruler says.
Why does my new sprocket sound different for the first days?
A new tooth profile meshing with used bushings runs noisy while the two wear into agreement, and on a matched pair that noise settles. Noise that grows rather than settles means the pairing was wrong, and the sooner both sides of the mesh are measured, the cheaper the correction.
